The Institute of Telecommunications and Global Information Space of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (ITGIS NAS of Ukraine) combines fundamental research with the training of highly qualified scientific professionals. The Institute’s educational activities focus on preparing Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) and Doctors of Science in the fields of applied mathematics and computer science.

Our Mission

The mission of the ITGIS Graduate School is to develop a new generation of scientists and researchers capable of addressing pressing scientific and technological challenges in telecommunications, information technology, mathematical modeling, and sustainable development. We strive to create an environment where education is inseparably linked with cutting-edge research, and every graduate student has the opportunity to work on real scientific problems under the guidance of leading scholars.

Our Values

Academic Excellence. We provide a high standard of training that meets national and international higher education requirements. Our educational and scientific programs undergo accreditation and regular peer review.

Unity of Science and Education. The Institute’s graduate students study directly within research departments conducting world-class investigations. This allows them to combine theoretical training with hands-on scientific experience.

Innovation. We integrate modern digital technologies into the educational process, including distance learning platforms, electronic resources, and online tools to ensure effective interaction between faculty and students.

International Cooperation. The Institute develops partnerships with leading universities and research institutions, providing graduate students with opportunities for internships, participation in international conferences, and collaborative research projects.

History of the Graduate School

The ITGIS NAS of Ukraine Graduate School has a long-standing tradition of training research professionals. The Institute offers accredited educational and scientific programs in the field of knowledge 11 “Mathematics and Statistics” (specialty 113 — Applied Mathematics) and 12 “Information Technologies” (specialty 122 — Computer Science).

Over the years, dozens of graduates have successfully defended their dissertations and earned the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Many of them continue their research careers at the Institute, leading Ukrainian universities and abroad, as well as in the IT industry and government institutions.

The Institute has a specialized academic council authorized to accept doctoral dissertations for defense, ensuring a complete cycle of academic training — from admission to the graduate program through to dissertation defense.

The Link Between Education and Research

The key advantage of the ITGIS Graduate School is the inseparable connection between the educational process and the Institute’s research activities. Graduate students work within six research departments, each with a unique specialization:

  • Department of Physical and Mathematical Modeling
  • Department of Information and Communication Technologies
  • Department of Applied Informatics
  • Department of Information Security
  • Department of Environmental Research
  • Department of Natural Resources

The Institute’s academic staff includes Corresponding Members of the NAS of Ukraine, Doctors of Science, and Candidates of Science who combine research with teaching. Graduate students have access to modern research infrastructure, participate in scientific research projects, and publish their results in professional and international journals.

The Institute publishes the scientific journals “Environmental Safety and Natural Resources” and “Mathematical Modeling in Economics,” where graduate students have the opportunity to publish their research.
